Towards a Proactive Approach for Combating Financial Crimes in
Bangladesh: Lessons from RCEP Strategies

Received on 10th Nov 2024, Accepted on 23th Feb 2025, Published on Abstract: Financial crimes like corruption and money laundering are a real threat to economic stability, governance and the trust necessary for a smooth financial environment. Their existence distorts market dynamics, debilitates business competitiveness, and dissuades foreign investment. The paper examines the proactive measures in combating financial crimes in Bangladesh based on the experience of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) countries. This research utilizes deterrence theory for strict enforcement of regulations to prevent financial crimes and network theory for interconnected systems to combat transnational financial crimes. The findings demonstrate that, despite some initial hurdles such as divergent legal frameworks and meager cooperation, RCEP countries have come a long way toward addressing financial crimes. But member states have been able to detect and reduce financial criminal activities more effectively by providing enhanced regional cooperation and building specialized financial intelligence units. The study recommends that Bangladesh can learn from the same strategies to reinforce its financial crime prevention mechanisms.

Introduction:
Financial crimes directly lead to economic losses, disrupt financial and market dynamics (Iordache, 2024). For example, corruption and money laundering distort business decisions, augment risks for financial institutions and distort government policies (Mcdowell & Novis, 2001). Such activities erode trust needed for smooth financial operations, deteriorating the competitiveness of genuine businesses and the reputation of a country and discourages foreign investors (Akay Ünvan, 2020). Unchecked financial crimes can establish long term, negative feedback loops where increased crimes decrease economic stability and increase unemployment, inverse reiterating financial crimes (Araujo & Shikida, 2010). One of the core functions of regional and international financial institutions is to foster the harmonization of 1Assistant Professor, Department of Criminology, University of Dhaka 2Associate Professor, Department of Management, University of Dhaka

A Critical Review of Literature on Human Resource Information
Systems in Developing Countries: Trends, Gaps, and Future
Directions
Mohammad Abdul Jabber1
Received on 27th Feb 2025, Accepted on 6th Aug 2025, Published on Abstract: The increasing adoption of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) in organizations has significantly transformed HR functions worldwide. AlthoughHRIS research has been extensively conducted in developed countries, studies in developing economies remain limited and mostly unexplored. This review paper aims to identify the key trends, gaps, and future research directions by critically analyzing thepublished literatureon HRIS particularly in developing countries. Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, this study identified and analyzed 90 peer-reviewed studies published between 2007 and 2025 from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The bibliometric analysis highlights an upward trend in HRIS research, with authors and sources databases. Thematic synthesis uncovers four primary research domains, first, HRIS adoption factors and challenges, second, HRIS impact on organizational efficiency, third, HRIS and employee behavioral predisposition, and fourth, HRIS improves HR functions. Moreover, HRISResearch in developing countries has mostly relied on cross-sectional surveys. Therefore, the review underscores the need for longitudinal and comparative studies, multi-level analyses, and exploration of the strategic roles of HRIS. Accordingly, This study contributes to the academic discourse by providing a structured synthesis of HRIS literature in developing countries and proposing a future research agenda to address existing knowledge gaps. Exploring the Technological Acceptance of Lean Manufacturing
Systems in the RMG Sector of Bangladesh: The Role of Relative
Advantage, Ease of Use, and Result Demonstrability

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to empirically explore the factors influencing the
adoption of Lean Manufacturing Systems (LMS) in the Ready-Made Garment (RMG)
sector of Bangladesh, focusing on the roles of Relative Advantage, Ease of Use, and
Result Demonstrability within the framework of the Technology Acceptance Model
(TAM).This study adopts a descriptive research design. A self-reported questionnaire has
been used to collect data from 212 managers, employees and decision-makers in the
RMG sector of Bangladesh. SmartPLS-SEM has been employed to analyze the data. The
results of the structural model indicate that Relative Advantage, Ease of Use, and Result
Demonstrability all positively influence the adoption of Lean Manufacturing Systems in
the RMG sector. Among these, Relative Advantage and Result Demonstrability had the
strongest effects. The study highlights the importance of showcasing observable results
and the relative benefits of LMS for greater acceptance within the sector. This study is
limited to the RMG sector in Bangladesh, and the findings may not be directly
generalizable to other industries or countries. Future research could extend the study to
other sectors or regions to corroborate the findings. The findings provide practical
insights for RMG firms and policymakers in Bangladesh. For successful LMS adoption, it
is crucial for firms to emphasize the advantages of LMS and the measurable outcomes of
lean practices. Policymakers could play a prominent role by incentivizing and conducting
training programs. These programs will popularize LMS adoption in the sector.

Abstract: This study focuses on the phenomenon of human resources (HR) attrition within the
context of a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company. The objective is to comprehensively
explore the causes, consequences, and mitigation strategies of HR attrition in the BPO sector.
Through a case study approach, quantitative and qualitative data have been collected to delve
into the intricacies of this complex issue. The study aims to provide insights that not only benefit
X-BPO but also contribute to the broader understanding of HR attrition in similar industries.
By analyzing the unique challenges faced by X-BPO and its efforts to navigate the evolving
labor landscape, this research seeks to unfold the practical mysteries of HR attrition before HR
practitioners and organizational leaders deal with attrition issues.

A Comprehensive Review of Green Human Resource
Management and Future Research Avenues
Dr. Shah Ridwan Chowdhury1
Received on 18th Sep 2023, Accepted on 6th Dec 2023, Publised on 31st Dec 2023
Abstract: There is emergent literature that shows the impacts that green human resource
management (GHRM) has on individual outcomes, organizational outcomes, GHRM
challenges, as well as drivers; but there is a scarcity of research avenues proposed to direct
potential researchers in the GHRM field. For addressing this void in the literature, a literature
review by following a systematic approach has been conducted of 87 papers on GHRM. The
literature trends have been observed as examining the direct and indirect interrelationship
between GHRM and performance through five GHRM aspects including green recruitment and
selection, green training and development, green compensation and rewards, green employee
involvement, and green performance management. Organizational performance dimensions
include environmental, economic, social performance, corporate social responsibility (CSR)
and green competitive advantage. Individual performance dimensions include green behavior,
green creativity, and green innovation. This review has revealed seven thematic research gaps
that should be focused on future GHRM research to make the field flourish and more mature.
The originality of the paper lies in its unique nature of offering future research avenues.
